BJJ black belt, Team USA Judo member and 2 times Olympian Travis Stevens is really enjoying competing at both the highest level in BJJ and Judo. He has chosen to compete at Feb 1rst Copa Podio against the likes of Rodolfo Vieira, Felipe Preguica, Leandro Lo etc.. instead of competing at the Paris Judo Grand Slam which is a major Judo competition. This decision has been met with criticism from some Judo fans who have accused him of favoring BJJ over Judo.

From Copa Podio Facebook page:

[NOW BLACK BELT!] It has been confirmed! Travis Stevens, the huge revelation of the Middleweight GP, taking fourth place while still brown belt, has come to an agreement concerning his participation in the Heavyweight GP.

To be able to fight against jiu-jitsu’s elite, the judoka decided not to take part in the Judo Grand Slam in Paris, which coincides with the Heavyweight GP.

Now boasting a well-deserved black belt, the tough American is back with more experience, a higher rank and more dangerous than ever!!!
