Royler Gracie Reveals His Toughest Opponents In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

In a recent episode of the “Connect Cast” podcast, Royler Gracie shared who his toughest opponents were in the world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Royler, who has achieved the coral belt in BJJ and has won multiple titles – including four World Championships at the IBJJF and three ADCC championships – is now 58 years old.
And he’s fondly looking back to his toughest challenges:

In the beginning of my career, the two toughest I fought were Otavio “Peixotinho” and Cassio Cardoso.
I fought once with each of them. After that, they left the circuit.

Then, Clovis (Silva) at that time was also very tough. Next, “Soca” (Alexandre Freitas) was one of the toughest guys.
He made it to the finals of the world and ADCC with me. Along with him came (Vinicius) Draculino.

Beyond his remarkable career as a competitor in Jiu-Jitsu and his ventures in MMA, where he recorded five wins, five losses, and one draw in 11 fights, Royler has also excelled as a coach.
He has coached athletes such as Wellington “Megaton” Dias, Xande and Saulo Ribeiro, Vinny Magalhaes, Omar Salum, and Renato Barreto.
