Roger

Roger Gracie is currently training for his UFC debut, on July 06, in the United States. However, the World championships of Jiu-Jitsu, which takes place from May 29 to June 2, in California, is still in the mind of the black belt. Because of its debut in the Octagon, Roger had to once again put aside the most important competition of the year, and an interview with tatame (In Portuguese), he regretted not being able to be on the mat.

“With the burden of MMA, it’s hard to devote a lot of time Jiu-Jitsu. I need two or three months of 100% dedication, just training kimono, but this is impossible. Let’s see if I can next year. The possibility is there.”

Despite the time devoted to mixed martial arts, Roger follows is following Jiu-Jitsu tournaments and bets on Marcus Buchecha, the 2012 world champion who he believes has a bright future.

“Based on past championships since the Worlds last year, Buchecha is ahead of the others. Nevertheless, he has not yet submitted all the big names, or had super tough fights, so there is still a lot for him to gain. Winning by an advantage, for example, is almost a tie.”
