Polish Grapplers Shine At ADCC 2013: Maria Malyjasiak Takes Silver & Oskar Piechota Chokes Out Calasans & Beats Vinny Magalhaes

Polish grapplers did Europe proud at te 2013 ADCC:

Maria Małyjasiak won the first medal for the Polish history in the finals of ADCC! Maria Małyjasiak second time proved to be in the forefront of the world’s women grappling by beating Penny Thomas by guillotine choke. The Pole eventually took the second place in the category + 60 kg in the final losing to much more titled and experienced Gabi Garcia.

Unfortunately the rest of Polish grapplers were eliminated in the second rounds of the prestigious ADCC World Championships. In the category – 99 kg Kamil Umiński defeated James Poupolo by heel hook while Thomas Narkun defeated Dagestan fighter Abdul Isaevaby a triangle. In the 88 kg category returning after a serious knee injury, Łukasz Michalec lost the first fight against Rustam Chviesowi by two points, and his team-mate Oskar Piechota made ​​the surprise of the tournament choking out respected Claudio Calasans and beating Vinny Magalhaes in the absolute.

In the second round Keenan Cornelius choked Oskar Peichota, Thomas Narkun had to acknowledge the superiority of Joao Assis, who defeated him by three points while Kamil Umiński lost to Cristiano Lazzarini.
