Jose Aldo Returns To Jiu-Jitsu Competition At Rio Masters Open

Former UFC champion and BJJ black belt Jose Aldo is finally going to back to his roots: competing in Jiu-Jitsu!

Aldo has a rich BJJ background. He trained under the legendary coach André Pederneiras from Nova Uniao (home of Vitor “Shaolin”, Robson Moura, Ramon Lemos, Gustavo Dantas). Jose Aldo’s career in Jiu Jitsu was great and he won the Copa do Mundo at brown belt in the same bracket as Rubens Cobrinha Charles.

The competition in question is the Rio De Janeiro IBJJF Masters International which is scheduled for July 28, 29 and 30.

The stage of the Tijuca Tennis Club, famous for hosting legendary Jiu-Jitsu tournaments such as the Mundial (before it moved to the USA), will feature Jose Aldo, who is registered in the tournament’s lightweight division in the Master 1 category.

Nova União’s black belt, José Aldo is back again with the IBJJF after long years of dedication to MMA.

In the same bracket, he will have some tough competition with world champion Celsinho Venícius, student of  Ryan Gracie, that will complicate the MMA champion’s return to Jiu-Jitsu.
