Many athletes carry the title of “greatest of all time” in the sport of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, with each athlete bringing something special of their own to the mats.
For example, Roger Gracie, Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida, and Demian Maia are frequently mentioned as the GOATs…
But who’s the the number one?
Well, former fighter and present coach & businessman Marcelo Brigadeiro recently shared his informed opinion.
Here’s what he had to say about the three:
For me, (the best among the three) is Demian Maia.
Roger Gracie is a very ‘no-nonsense’ game, he has a lot of physical stamina.
(Marcus) Buchecha is a strong guy too, Demian Maia didn’t have a physical advantage over anyone.
His Jiu-Jitsu is pure technique, a sinister skinny, bada**.
So, it appears that – according to Brigadeiro, at least – that Maia is the greatest out of the three.
What do you think, do you agree with the sentiment?

Sloth Jiu-Jitsu: you can be slow and unathletic and still kick butt in Jiu-Jitsu.
