Ffion Davies Is The First European To Win Double Gold At IBJJF No-Gi World Championship

In a so-far-unprecedented-feat, Ffion Davies has once again immortalized her name in the history of submission grappling – by winning double gold at the 2023 IBJJF No-Gi World Championship!

This achievement is not only remarkable because it showcases Davies’ extraordinary skills…
But also because it marks her as the first European grappler to accomplish such a feat!

Davies is now a 4x no-gi world champion.
Here’s what she had to say about the experience in a recent social media post:

So many mental hurdles were overcome for this – particularly in the open class where I’ve always struggled to keep my mind focused and battle the doubt.

I will never be embarrassed to cry, show my passion and love for this sport.
I’m an antithetical, multi faceted person who loves Taylor Swift but also love to squeeze heads & scrap.

Davies’ unprecedented journey began back in 2018, when she became the first European competitor to win a gold medal at the event.
This victory paved the way for other European grapplers like Adam Wardzinski and Tommy Langaker, who followed in her footsteps.

Davies continued her winning streak by securing a second IBJJF No-Gi World Title in 2021, becoming the first European to win the event multiple times.
