Dricus du Plessis Says MMA Fighters Have To Thank Conor McGregor: “He’s Transformed It”

No matter if you like or don’t like Conor McGregor, there is no denying that the UFC superstar brought a lot of eyeballs on the sport.
And even the fighters that don’t necessarily like him have come to appreciate this – such as Dricus du Plessis.

Du Plessis has emphasized that fighters need to “thank” Conor McGregor for what he’s done for the sport and them as well:

I mean that guy, everything he touches [turns to gold] man.

He’s such a legend in this sport, what he’s done for the sport.
He’s transformed it into such a mainstream sport.

Du Plessis understands not liking The Notorious’ persona, but…

I don’t know him personally but meeting him, [he is a] different person.

And even if you don’t like him, you can’t ever discredit what he’s done for this sport because every single fighter needs to thank him in my opinion for the raise in pay, the raise in awareness for this sport.

Because I think Conor McGregor might be one of the most famous people on earth.

McGregor is making his long-awaited return to the UFC octagon in June – and it will be exciting to watch what he’ll bring to the excitement this time.
