ONE Championship’s CEO, Chatri Sityodtong, has recently disclosed plans for a groundbreaking mixed rules match – featuring Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson and Mikey Musumeci!

The seeds for this unique matchup were sown back in 2022, when Musumeci expressed his desire to grapple with Johnson.
Johnson, a versatile fighter known for his adaptability – as well as a BJJ brown belt – responded positively, showing eagerness to step into Musumeci’s world of grappling.

So, when the question of what’s next for Johnson arose during a recent interview with Sityodtong, ONE CEO had an exciting answer to share:

We have been trying to get DJ a superfight, a super mixed-rules fight between DJ and Mikey Musumeci, the current flyweight grappling world champion.
I think that would be a spectacular fight as well.

Johnson, aged 37, with a rich history of 30 professional MMA fights, is perhaps now in a more reflective phase of his career.
However, he hasn’t announced retirement just yet.

Sityodtong believes that The Mighty Mouse has a few more fights left in him, however:

I think DJ is kind of more right now in cruise control after having won his last title fight and when he is ready he will let us know when he wants to fight.

He says he doesn’t have the burning desire, but he hasn’t retired yet, so I think DJ has a few more fights left in him to be honest.
But, he needs some big challenges, maybe some crazy mixed-rules fights.

He’s the only person in the history of martial arts to win belts in the two biggest and most biggest and most prestigious organizations, UFC and ONE (Championship), and do so in such a legendary way.
