Craig Jones Says It’s More Embarrassing To Pass Out Than To Tap Out

Craig Jones recently offered valuable advice to MMA fighters about the importance of knowing when to tap out during a fight.

Namely, in a video where he breaks down UFC submission moves, Jones highlighted the situation using Umar Nurmagomedov’s deep Rear Naked Choke as an example – emphasizing that tapping out is a both smarter and less humiliating option than being rendered unconscious.

I don’t know why the guy doesn’t tap.
I feel like you should just tap.

It’s more embarrassing to go to sleep than it is to tap out, I think.

Jones pointed out that refusing to submit and subsequently passing out from a submission or joint lock can lead to not only physical harm, but also to a somewhat stained reputation:

Let it go, bro. It’s over.

Furthermore, the very sight of a fighter going limp and waking up confused and possibly injured can be unsettling for the audience as well. Jones described that as something that “is gonna suck” for everyone involved.
