Calasans

After a disappointing campaign at Abu Dhabi World Pro, where he took third place, Claudio Calasans arrived at the Brazilian ADCC trials as one of the favorites. This year’s ADCC will take place in Beijing in October. The Rio trials were held in the famous Maracanãzinho (where Rickson fought Zulu), last weekend. The Atos black belt said that he did not feel any pressure and managed to meet his goal, beating Paulinho Barauna in the final.

Calasans is already experienced in ADCC , when he came in fourth in the last edition in the UK in 2011. Back then he also qualified at the Rio trials.

“I had already fought there in the 77kg category, but it’s my first time at 88kg. I am very happy to have achieved this goal. At the last ADCC I came in fourth place and now it will be different, “he said.

Asked about the differences between the two ADCC editions, the fighter, who beat the famous Delson Pe de Chumbo, said that this time his weight was the difference. “There was no easy fight here. I was lighter this time, but did not bother me at all. I came to do my job the best way that I could and got the result, “he added.
