BJJ Globetrotters Founder Christian Graugart Moving to a Carribbean Island w/ His Family

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Globetrotters have been growing rapidly over the last few years. Starting out as a small affiliation of Jiu Jitsu practitioners who had trouble signing up for IBJJF competitions due to issues with politics, it is now turning into a world wide community of Jiu Jitsu travelers, a gi brand, couchsurfing service and one of the most active organizers of exotic training camps around the world.

BJJ Globetrotters founder Christian Graugart, a black belt from Copenhagen, Denmark also known for being the author of “The BJJ Globetrotter”, has just announced another milestone for his institution. He is moving with his family to a Caribbean Island. He has decided to move to Saint Barthélemy in the French West Indies and will arrive there on October 28th. The academy there will be the new official HQ of BJJ Globetrotters.

Graugart announced the news on his Facebook:

“I’m moving to the Caribbean next month.

Since I did my big around-the-world trip five years ago, I’ve been very focused on positioning myself to be able to take advantage of any interesting life opportunities that might present themselves. Get rid of possessions, build a non-location based income, sell my business (gym), expand my social network, save up money and so on.

The opportunity to relocate me and my little family to Saint Barthélemy in the French West Indies landed on my lap earlier this year and the decision process was very short. After much planning all year, the tickets are finally purchased and we’re moving there on October 28th. I have no idea if it’s going to work out, if we can actually start a new life on a tiny island in the Caribbean or how long we’ll stay. But I can’t not give it a shot.

I’ve been training and teaching on Saint Barth for the last three years and come to like the life on the island more and more. The local academy there will become the new BJJ Globetrotters HQ where I’ll be teaching and training on a daily basis. I’ll still do all the same camps, just gotta fly a little longer for some of them. I’m definitely gonna miss beautiful Copenhagen and all my friends and family here, but I’ll be back at some point, I’m just not sure when exactly.

Please come visit anytime. I’ll have training, surfboard and a pirate costume waiting for you.

Big thanks to Pierre Sbh for making this happen for me.”
