Now that BJ Penn is set to rematch Frankie Edgar at 145lbs, he has activated his partnership with his team Nova Uniao. Penn and Edgar are booked to coach the next season of The Ultimate Fighter and then fight one another again, this time at Featherweight. It will be Penn’s first ever fight at 145 pounds.According to MMA Fighting, Penn will train with his Nova Uniao teammate Jose Also. Nova Uniao head coach Andre Pederneiras will also be in Penn’s corner in the TUF Tv show. Pederneiras said:

“It was a honor to receive this invitation (to be a coach on Team Penn),” Nova Uniao coach Andre Pederneiras said. “B.J. and his brother are really close. He is really excited and motivated with his fight against Edgar. It’s going to be a great opportunity for me to show my work as a coach to the audience outside of Brazil, which is not used to see my work closely.”

Pederneiras wants Penn to train with Aldo at Nova Uniao for his upcoming bout and, according to the coach, the former UFC lightweight and welterweight champion will train for his next fight in Rio de Janeiro.

“We’ve studied Edgar’s game a lot for Aldo’s fight,” he said, “so I believe there’s no better place and sparrings better for B.J. to come back in great fashion and motivated.”
