2011 Champ Vinny Magalhaes On China hosting ADCC 2013: “I’ve never heard of any Jiu-Jitsu in China…”

Vinny-Pezão

2011 was a perfect year for Vinny “Pezao” Magallhaes. In addition to four MMA wins , he won the Heavyweight category at ADCC by beating Fabricio Werdum in the decision. Back in the UFC with a win, the Jiu-Jitsu fighter does not rule out competing in ADCC this year in Beijing, China.

“I’m fighting in the UFC in April (against Phil Davis), so it’s very likely that I’ll have a fight scheduled again around August, September or October. If this is the case, the focus is on MMA, but if ADCC is right after a fight, maybe I’ll fight, yes, “said Vinny. “I cannot confirm if I will compete, but every time I enter a competition the idea is out there winning.”

Silva escaped an armbar from Werdum to get the gold at the ADCC which is considered the “World Cup” of grappling , but he said that, as in 2011, he did not train specifically for the tournament. In Spain in 2009, he took the bronze in weight and absolute.

“Since the last edition, I will not do any training geared just for Grappling, but I hope to come first again if I end up competing,” he says.

Focused on the fight with Davis, held in late April in New Jersey, United States, Vinny questioned the choice of Beijing as the venue of the tournament: “China has never had a contestant who has been prominent in the ADCC, and not just in terms of results, but even in popularity,” he said. “I never heard of any Jiu-Jitsu in China. Never heard of the popularity of Jiu-Jitsu in China. ”

“China has never had a contestant who has been prominent in the ADCC, and not just in terms of results, but even with popularity,” opines. “I never heard of any Jiu-Jitsu in China. Never heard of the popularity of Jiu-Jitsu in China. “
