This Secret Grip Neutralizes Almost All 50/50 Leg Lock Submissions

This Secret Grip Neutralizes Almost All 50/50 Leg Lock Submissions

The 50/50 is one of the most versatile positions in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu – predominantly when it comes to Leg Locks. It gives you ample opportunities for a Heel Hook attack, and even for Kneebars, that a lot of other positions don’t.
However, it also gives your opponent an opportunity to go for these same submissions. Therefore, you need to learn how to successfully defend against them, which isn’t always a simple task.

Luckily for you, Craig Jones has decided to share a secret grip… That he uses to neutralize almost all 50/50 Leg Lock attacks. It’s quite simple to learn and perform, so don’t waste any more of your time – it’s time to get to it.

THE SECRET GRIP AGAINST 50/50 LEG LOCKS

To start out with this technique, Craig Jones emphasizes that you need to understand the importance of getting up. And, while getting up, you need to have your leg straightened out; unless you want to get leglocked easily.
Nevertheless, just having your leg straight won’t be enough to neutralize Leg Lock attacks from the 50/50 position. Instead, Craig demonstrates that you have to hug the opponent across their waist and cup their hip on the far side.

This will make it incredibly difficult for your opponents to scoot out and go for Leg Locks. Plus, it will give you an opportunity to stand up properly, after which you’ll be able to clear their legs completely – and go on the offensive of your own.
Craig Jones shows and explains this simple concept on the video below:
