Idris Elba made his name staring in the golden age of HBO classic “The Wire”. By many accounts the show is number one on the list of best shows of all time but he might be even more exciting to watch – live in a kickboxing match!
The footage attached below was taken while Elba is in training to become a professional kickboxer for the upcoming docu series made for Discovery channel.
The series will focus on fulfilling Elba’s lifelong ambition of becoming a professional fighter. 3 part series is set to air early in 2017.

Elba did some fitness kickboxing previously in his 20s but during the series he will be learning from the best, former world champs, trainers and coaches who will try to guide him through the exhaustive journey.
Elba’s production company Green Door Pictures are behind the project and he spoke positively of the experience to UK Telegraph: “It has been a lifelong ambition of mine to fight professionally. Entering the ring to further test myself as a human being is a challenge I have been looking to take on for quite some time.”
