The Saint of Crackland – A Jiu-Jitsu Story

The Saint of Crackland – A Jiu-Jitsu Story

Novos Sohnos, a unique social project in Sao Paulo, Brazil is changing children’s lives by teaching them jiu-jitsu and all the values that accompany it.

The project is located in Sao Paulo’s infamous Cracolandia (literally translated as ‘Crackland’), a drug infected neighborhood.

This initiative has succeeded in getting kids off the streets of Cracolandia, and helping them build a better future for themselves. BJJ instructor Lael Rodrigues and his wife Joana are dedicating their lives to making a change for these kids.

Ryan Ford, host of the popular Grappling Central Podcast, has produced a documentary film called “The Saint of Crackland – A Jiu-Jitsu Story” showing Novo Sonhos’ work.
