Much like any sport Judo has it’s fair share of odd occurrences including unsportsmanlike behavior, strange developments in a match but even some more eccentric ones as a cellphone in a gi and failing to take off your necklace.
Just last month over the Budapest World Team Championships Nino Odzelashvili got disqualified for wearing a necklace on the mat. All while she was leading in scoring. Take a look:
And then of course there’s the cell phone hanging inside of a gi thing, which has actually happened in bjj previously:
Here’s the same thing happening in Judo:
18 year old Madina Taimazova may have forgotten her cell phone inside of a gi and quickly got DQ-ed for it at the 2017 Maribor Junior Team Championships.
Of course there’s one DQ that might still take the cake in the world of bjj – fan favorite Bill Cooper was once –  disqualified in the finals against Otavio Souza – for not wearing underwear, a very unusual event in a final of a major tournament. Cooper ‘s boxers had been soaked in sweat previously so he opted to take them off not thinking that this will be his downfall. You can listen to him tell the story here.
