Grappling Central Podcast Interviews Bill Cooper

Bill “The Grill” Cooper is the latest guest of Grappling Central Podcast. Bill Cooper is a brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt under Ricardo “Franjinha” Miller and a black belt in judo.  He’s also tried his hand at MMA, his professional record stands at 2-1 – both wins were by way of submission.

Bill is currently preparing for EBI 7 but he took time out of his busy schedule to talk to Grappling Central Podcast. He took the opportunity to talk about his jiu-jitsu journey which he started thanks to knowing Jeff Glover and offered a little background on how he got nicknamed “The Grill”.

Relatively soon after, he met Rickson Gracie and tried his hand at competing. A lot of Bill’s attitudes highlight how flexible he is in most things- jiu-jitsu and life. They also took the time to discuss his win at brown belt level at Pan Ams as well as his underwear disqualification in absolute.

Bill Cooper is currently cutting weight from 180 to 145 for EBI 7:

Cooper also explained how he strikes a balance between gi and nogi as well as participation in submission oriented competition as well as those with points. And shared his motivation and preference for MMA training.

In addition to all of the above, he also talked a little bit about his ACL injury as well as rest and recovery.

The guillotine specialist also drew a fine line between his favorite submissions. He’s the competitor that famously pulled off a twister after being prompted by spectating Eddie Bravo.
