Sapateiro Invitational is a relatively young promotion, it’s one of the up and coming sub only events on the American continent. Once the sponsor for the Gordon Ryan fight backed out amid Dream Team squabbles, they came in with the save and featured Gordon Ryan vs Todd Mueckemheim!
Now they’re determined to place the event on the must see list with their 16 men open weight tournament happening later this month.
The 16 men open weight tournament will feature:
Gordon Ryan – fresh off of his Felipe Pena defeat and with plenty to prove!
Richie Martinez – Martinez just recently retired from MMA and is ready to reclaim the spotlight for 10th planet. Much like his brother Geo did back at EBI 10!
Vinny Magalhaes – ADCC vet is ready to take on anyone. Known for his flexibility strength and stature- he’ll be the one to beat!
Enrico Coco – ADCC vet is known as a veteran on the sub only scene and he doesn’t shy away from leaving everything he has on the mat. Just a few months back he fought Garry Tonon for 3rd spot in Grappling Central Championship in spite of it having no bearing on the final result! And he almost caught him too!
Also featuring: Marcel Goncalves, Jessaray Childrey, Jimmy Friedrich, Dan Martinez, Chase Davis, Adam Sachnoff, James Brasco, Bruno Bastos, Jeff Monson, Hector Lombard and Bill Cooper!
Rules:
– 10 minute matches of submission only.
– Only one round of over time in the semi-finals. If no submission both competitors go to the loser bracket.
– In the finals and quarter-finals we will have continuous overtime until submission.
– All Submissions are legal and slamming is only allowed to get out of a submission
– One stall warning, second stall warning will award a desqualification.
Event will be happening January 21st in Tampa, Florida!
