Sakuraba announced an interesting tournament a while back. The promotion’s meant to put an emphasis on team spirit, something you don’t see all that often in bjj.
With a group weight limit of around 420kg it’s an interesting concept. Rules are:
– No-Gi Matches, rash guard is required
– 10 minute sub-only
– If weight difference between challengers is over 15 kg, the match will be 5 minutes only
– No heel hooks allowed (boo)
– Limited time allowed in closed guard
– Each team has 5 members
– The total weight of the team will not exceed 420 kilograms
And the teams have been finalized – Round one will be pitting BJJ and Sambo & Judo against Catch Wrestling Team.
