Ronda Rousey and Mom To Receive Belt Promotions During Hall Of Fame Induction

Ronda Rousey recently marked an anniversary of her UFC debut. The former bantamweight champion is also set to be inducted into the International Sports Hall of Fame on March 3rd in Ohio during the Arnold Classic Expo.

Ronda Rousey began training judo with her mother at the age of 11. She trained with her mother until at age 13 she accidentally broke the senior’s wrist. At 17, she qualified for the Athens Olympics and was the youngest judoka in the entire games.

In August of 2008 she won her bronze medal becoming the first American to win an Olympic medal in women’s judo since the discipline inception.

Rousey’s mother AnnMaria De Mars, was the first American to win gold at the judo world championships, will also be promoted to a 7th degree black belt alongside her daughter.

While Rousey’s skill in judo isn’t questioned she’s certainly fallen quite far from grace following catastrophic quick loss from Amanda Nunes and subsequent pending transition to the WWE.
