New Street Fighter 5 Character Represents Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

The popular video game franchise Street Fighter will be releasing its 5th edition very shortly and word is that there will be an all-new Brazilian female character.

Japanese video game magazine Famitsu has posted images online of new character Laura performing various moves and even grappling with Ryu.

Her fighting style is Brazilian jiu-jitsu as opposed to the series’ other Brazilian character Blanka, who practices his version of capoeira.

It does appear Laura might share some similarities with Blanka as she also appears to have some lighting-based attacks, including what appears to be some sort of projectile.

This is the first time ever that a BJJ character is represented in a video game (Tekken etc..).

No other details have been revealed about this latest character development.

There is also a new Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu video game out: Dojo Storm.
This game is playable on PC, Android and iOS. If you donated to their crowdfunding campaign, you can also have yourself and your academy included in the game.
