After some pay per view issues the match started. It would go on for 10 rounds, longer than most predicted on either camp.
The bookie sites had Mayweather as a clear favorite, having boxed for all his life with a record 49-0.
As predicted McGregor came out strong. There were some really nice combos. But as Firas Zahabi predicted, McGregor made many attempts to dirty box.
The one apparent thing was an obvious decline in cardio from rounds 4 up until the finish.
Mayweather looked well on his feet and as time wore on slapped on much better pressure. It was odd seeing McGregor backing out.
He even tried the staple taunt at one point but Mayweather wouldn’t fall for it.

And as the cardio declined and Mayweather put on pressure, soon enough it was lights out for McGregor.

In the end both were in great spirits, undoubtedly aided by their new riches.
“He’s a lot better than I thought he was,” Mayweather said afterward. “He’s a tough competitor, but I was the better man tonight. Our game plan was to take our time, go to him, let him shoot all his heavy shots early, then take him out down the stretch.”
