Garcia recently discussed his takedown game in the I love Jiu-Jitsu more than anyone 2nd installment:

“I started getting better at takedowns because me and Demien Maia used to be really good training partners. And we kind of went up the belt levels at the same time. And I used to see him compete a lot too and I realized he has a really good double leg, you know. He has a big advantage because he takes everyone down with a good double leg. So I realized I wanted to get a good double leg. And I just started to practice double leg no even an armdrag or a single leg and I don’t think I have a good double leg I just started to practice so much.

That’s when I started to do more takedowns. At the same time I started training nogi that’s why I started to choose more wrestling takedowns than judo even though I started with judo.”

Garcia admits he doesn’t have much of a judo arsenal:

“You have to 3 dimensions, you’re gonna have to be good on your back, good on top and good on our feet. I believe I can wrestle really good complimentary to jiu-jitsu.”
