Mackenzie Dern Talks Inspiration to Go Into MMA & Why She Never Burned Out

Mackenzie Dern’s 2nd MMA match is fast approaching. It’s scheduled for 14th of October as a part of Legacy Fighting Championship.

The World Champion bjj black belt Dern, daughter of Wellington “Megaton” Diaz, will be facing Montana Stewart next. Stewart has much more MMA experience and her current record stands at 5 victories and 2 losses.

Stewart is currently on a 5 victory spree stretching from March 2015 to present date. Stewart is only 21 years old making Mackenzie Dern senior.

Stewart reportedly came in 5th at the National USA Wrestling championships so it’ll be interesting to see how Dern does against a wrestler.

As a part of the promotional package ahead of the fight Dern discussed what gave her the push to go into MMA and how her jiu-jitsu journey began.

“About 5 years ago MMA was not gonna happen. Then I kinda won a lot of things in jiu-jitsu and then I was at a point like what do I want to do now? A new challenge…”

Dern continues: ” In my opinion what Ronda did for women’s mma is incredible. She really showed that a woman can make a living off of doing mma. That’s a big thing in why I decided to try this”
