Two of Australia’s most prominent figures in the world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu – Kit Dale and Craig Jones – aren’t popular just because of their skill and their impact on the Gentle Art… But also because of their (obviously Aussie) humor.
Well, the two recently sat down for a conversation, which revealed some intriguing insights into their journeys.
Dale expressed both admiration and “envy” towards Jones. He reminisced:
Look, I mean, I hate you for a lot of reasons. Okay, one, that’s why we’re in the therapy chairs.
I used to be one of Australia’s best grapplers. I think at one point, I was Australia’s best grappler, and then this little f**cker came along and ruined everything for me.
I remember the moment when you beat Leandro Lo, and I was happy, I was celebrating.
But a part of me was crying inside.
Jones had a… “Word of advice” for Dale:
For me, personally, whenever I see a good up and comer, I think: “Hey, let’s take this guy out, let’s give him some cocaine, let’s see if we can sabotage this career, hold him back a bit, give me a couple more years in the game.”
The two touched upon a whole variety of other topics, but always intermingled with Aussie humor:
Jiu-Jitsu does ruin people’s lives. People, I mean, here’s the thing, if you have not much going on in your life, Jiu-Jitsu will help.
But if you have a great career, great prospects in other areas, Jiu-Jitsu will totally f*ck that up for you.
