Jocko Willink & Tim Kennedy On How To Start In Self Defense

While a debate rages on whether it’s appropriate to say jiu-jitsu fight in any circumstance black belt in BJJ under Royler Gracie and Army Ranger Tim Kennedy thinks sports jiu-jitsu is gutless.

To recap, Nick Diaz was quoted saying:
“They’re Not Fighters, And They Are Never Going To Be” in reference to bjj matches.

But Tim Kennedy goes a step further and deeply emasculates sports jiu jitsu participants:

“I don’t like things that had b*lls and now no longer have balls. That’s what jiu-jitsu has almost become. Jiu-jitsu to me is get in mount or in side control and I’m gonna pick your face up and I’m gonna smash it into cement. Then I’m gonna push your eyes *ut and then I’m gonna b*te your cheek off. That’s what jiu jitsu is to me. That’s the origin of it. The gentle art (chuckles)”

This is why Kennedy is a fan of combat jiu jitsu
“Instead of like talking about you know getting four points for back control or
getting four points for mount or getting a takedown again – looks like find a place that you can hold somebody down and then hit them that’s it”

Later on he added:

“I hate sports jiu-jitsu. I think sports jiu-jitsu is the abomination to what martial arts is.”

In this conversation with fellow BJJ black belt and ex-Navy Seal commander Jocko Willink, they talk about self defense and what really works.
