Final IBJJF event of the season is over. California was the home of another Nogi event – this time in a subpar ruleset for nogi the IBJJF nogi rules. As a reminder these rules allow for no heel hooks or reaps and mostly bring out the gi crowd looking to adapt their approach a little bit.

In comparison to ADCC the turn out was lukewarm at best. A few names are worth mentioning – among them Lucas Hulk Barbosa from Atos and Keenan Cornelius.

The only notable surprise of the tournament came when Heather Rafferty managed to sub Michelle Nicolini in one of the beginning rounds with a very tight kneebar.

The turn out for Nogi Worlds is typically smaller than Gi worlds additionally so due to this being an ADCC years. This caused Caio Terra, Joao Somalia and Adam Sanchnoff to go directly to semi finals.
