Gordon Ryan Teaches His Arm-In Guillotine That Submitted Keenan Cornelius

The Guillotine choke is an extremely popular submission in both Gi and NoGi.  It is one of the first submissions many people learn and one of the most effective.  There are a multitude of variations for the Guillotine!  Some have different grips, hand positioning and set-ups.  Some people prefer arm in Guillotines, some prefer the high elbow or “Marcelotine.”  The question we must ask today, is one guillotine variation superior then the other?

The arm-in guillotine as opposed to the regular guillotine is a move that was popularized by Renzo Gracie in the mid 2000’s. Renzo of course taught his various set ups to his students which included the famous John Danaher.

The 3x ADCC champion and recent No Gi Pan double gold champion Gordon Ryan stopped by Bernardo Faria’s academy for some training and showed exactly how he set up the arm-in guillotine that submitted top grappling star Keenan Cornelius at ADCC 2017.

Check out the details, they are world class!
