Gordon Ryan got the chance to duke it out against Lucas Hulk Barbosa last night in another edition of the Fight To Win Pro.
Since a submission couldn’t be secured by either the judges ruled Gordon Ryan a victor – something Galvao claimed he didn’t get.
He wrote:
I would like to congratulate my student @lucasbarbosa – what I saw was my guy on top trying to pass, lucas set up a estima lock wasn’t tight but it was an attempt of submission and that is the rule, he jumped for a fly guillotine (no success but he did) while the opponent was on bottom and didn’t set up one submission, my guy neutralized him the whole time(zero sub attacks). At the end Lucas got a stacked pass and finished attacking. I’m trying to understand why he lost. I went to a couple events like that and always the local guy wins when there is no submission in the fight (is that part of the rule??) BY THE WAY I’M THE KING ??
To which Gordon Ryan took offense and posted:
Well I had originally written a nice post about my opponent and his team explaining my thoughts on the match. But after I saw @galvaobjj post I’ll change it up a little. First of all, winning a decision for me is about as bad as losing one. I’m always looking to finish my opponent. I feel as though my opponent only spent a minute or so trying to pass my guard and the other nine minutes were spent by me trying to chase him around the mat and make a grip. I feel I did more than enough to win seeing as I was the aggressor the whole time. Counting him hugging my foot and him jumping over me trying to lock his hands around me as submission is silly. A submission is a movement that the has the mechanical ability to break your opponent or strangle them unconscious. While we both had no submission attempts I feel I chased him nearly the entire match while he jumped across the mats and tried to pass briefly. I want to give a thanks to @lucasbarbosajj for coming all the way to New jersey to compete. If you aren’t happy with the decision I would be more than happy to rematch you either under the same rules or a longer time limit. @galvaobjj I’ll see you eventually;) I have a sponsor willing to pay you $$$ to see us in a no time limit match. Good luck “king”. Thanks to my family, friends, sponsors, and team for your support always.
Do you see these two facing off prior to potential ADCC match up?
