Gabi Garcia, a well-known BJJ and MMA fighter, has accused her ex-husband, Bruno Almeida, of financial fraud, physical abuse, theft, threats, and intimidation.
She has shared evidence of these allegations on social media, including screenshots and videos. Despite a restraining order and the Maria da Penha law, which offers special courts and stricter sentences for domestic abuse offenders, Almeida has allegedly persisted in harassing Garcia.
He has filed for divorce and won the case, requiring Garcia to vacate their shared property. Garcia has filed for protective measures in the state of São Paulo, but Almeida’s team has filed a gag order to stop her from sharing their personal affairs online.
Garcia has clarified that there was only one instance of physical abuse, where Almeida unexpectedly elbowed her in the face while she was sleeping.
In an exclusive interview, she told WMMA Rankings:
Garcia clarified, “Everyone, I want to emphasize that the truth is always important to me. I cannot lie. Although there were no frequent instances of physical abuse, there was one incident where he unexpectedly elbowed me in the face while I was sleeping.”
Additionally, Garcia’s dog was injured while defending her from a man with a wooden plank. The dog is expected to make a full recovery.
