Erin Herle Making MMA Debut In June

Erin Herle just announced she will be making her way into the cage.

Worlds 2012, 5 matches, lost by one advantage in the final and cried belly down on the mat when the 6-minute match expired. I lost but I learned—that this was an isolating, often unfulfilling sport. I went on to compete in 5 more world championships losing every time. Sometimes in the first round, sometimes in the semis, sometimes in the final. All equally crushing. I always cried. Always. But man, am I a better person for it. When you want something you find a way. Or you stop trying. Both are honorable paths but ONLY if the decision is made solely on your own. Follow your heart. I’m missing worlds this year because I’ll be debuting in my first MMA fight on June 1. What an amazing coincidence.

She even got some Royce Gracie advice on the topic:

Got some good advice from @realroyce today.
I said, “My goal is takedown and submit,” and he replies, “That’s not a goal; that’s a dream.” And assuming my opponent is alive, it’s gonna be a little more complicated than that. 😅
Thanks for the words today and the encouragement. 🙌🏼

It’s not the be all end all but it certainly beats his previous tales of women belonging in the kitchen…
When asked about women in mma several years ago Royce replied:

“Nope, I’m not a big fan of it,” Gracie said when asked for his opinion on women’s mixed martial arts. “I like the woman feminine. I don’t like to get home and get beat up.

“But hey, it’s a free country. They can do whatever they want.”
