Dillon Danis on Bar Altercation: ‘That Fat Slob Bouncer Might Go to Jail’

BJJ black belt and 2-0 MMA fighter Dillon Danis, was recently involved in an altercation in front of New Jersey bar where he was caught on film being chocked by a bouncer who had formal Jiu-Jitsu training.

Danis has a slightly different version of the events than the information that he got out.

Speaking to the MMA Hour, Danis gave his point of view on the events from that ungrateful night. He explained that he went to a bar after his best friend’s wedding but did not have his ID:

“Actually (the bouncer) is under investigation. He might go to jail. It is what it is, and you know the crazy thing about this, is that the guy wasn’t even involved in any of this… Basically what happened is one of my best friends since I was 13 was getting married down the shore… We were all drinking, great time,” Danis said.

“(The wedding) ended at 10 o’clock so we were like okay let’s go to the city. So we were going to go to Manhattan, but he was like ‘Oh a couple of my family members are at this bar down the street, can we just stop there first?’ So I was like alright, that’s fine, whatever… This was place was like the f—king sh—iest place we’ve ever seen in our f—king life…

“We’re on the Boardwalk and we go to walk in and the guy… starts being confrontational and he was like ‘Do you have your ID?’ I was like ‘Bro listen, I was all night.’ Even when you wear a thick suit and you have your wallet in your pocket it doesn’t look good in pictures, you know you have this big square thing in your pocket. So I was like ‘Bro, I’m not going to lie. I’m here, my best friend’s getting married, we’re coming in for one drink,’” Danis continued.

“And the funny thing is he’s saying I Googled myself but I just said this is my age, I showed him my passport and my vaccination card. I was like ‘Bro, I just don’t have my wallet on me because we were taking pictures all day, I was at a wedding. I was in a suit, no pockets or anything.’ And he was like ‘Oh f—k, like you think you can do whatever you want, you think I know who you are.’ I’m like ‘Bro, there’s no point in this. I’m having one drink with my friend, and his family, then we’re leaving.’ And he keeps going, he keeps going, and a bunch of them keep going…”

In an interview given to the Grappling Insider, the bouncer – the same one who held Dillon Danis in a RNC – gave an explanation so as to what happened during the confrontation:

That night I was the doorman working and Dillon and 3 of his friends came to the bar late around 12:30, maybe 1am from a wedding party. That night I caught 2 fake IDs from the wedding party; and around 9pm we closed the upstairs bar to anyone under 21 because it’s more of a club.

So, when Dillion arrived I asked him and his 3 friends for IDs which I got 3; but Dillion did not have an ID. At the time I had no idea who he was and none of the bouncers did either so we denied him entry based on lack of proof of age. Once we told him no, he began to become defensive asking us: “Do you know who I am? Because you and you are going to be fired if you don’t let me in”.

As bouncers at the Jersey Shore, we hear this multiple times a night. We continue to tell him we can’t let him in unless he has an ID and telling him he can go get it or anything else but without a valid ID we won’t let him in. After this a second bouncer came in between us (about 3 feet from Dillion) and told him it’s private property and he can’t stay there. A police officer who was there also told him to leave.
He did not [do that] and when the officer turned away he took a step towards the second bouncer, who put a hand on his chest to stop him from moving forward.

Dillion then slapped his hand away telling him not to touch him. He then attempted to swing on the second bouncer. During the talking and all I was moving behind Dillion Danis. Once he tried to swing on the second bouncer I took him by the neck and brought him to the ground. The other bouncers and bartenders began creating space for me and Dillion; and pushing the other 3 guys back down the ramp near the staircase.
I held him there for about a minute, maybe less, until the police came. Once they were there I flipped Dillion over and assisted the police in arresting him and once he was cuffed I moved away. After he went down the ramp with the police I didn’t really get much after that.

It’s no secret that Tom DeBlass – like many other Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athletes – doesn’t have the highest opinion of Dillon Danis. He called out Danis multiple times on his social media for his behavior, criticizing him for his lack of respect and misdemeanour.
So, it was no surprise when DeBlass announced that the bouncer who put Dillon Danis in a Rear Naked Choke at a nightclub party will start training BJJ with him… For free!

Guess who starts training with me a Monday? Yes, the unsung hero @chance_3141 that made Dillon tap.
He told me: “Tom i was sick of his mouth, I told him that he’s lucky it wasn’t you, I wasn’t even warmed up yet. This is NJ, and he’s nothing but a blonde bully bozo.”

Chance, you have free training for 1 year at my Academy. Dillon, if you seek revenge it won’t end well. Xo

Tom fulfilled his promise. Chance had the first training session with him a couple of days ago, as he described on his Instagram:

Pleasure to have the man of the hour @chance_3141 training with me now.

Free year for my guy here.

Chance is the bouncer that had Dillons back, the video went viral.

I spoke to Chance and let me tell you, he looks for no trouble. He is kind and humble.

The story is Dillon showed up to his bar without an ID. Chance wouldn’t let him in so Dillon says “google me bro” and continues to pull up his Instagram.
Chance still wouldn’t let him in so Dillon got very offended and started aggressively going over the bouncers.

Pleasure to have you with us brother, and if you have any haters tell them to meet you here:)
