How To Defend the Rolling Baseball Choke from Bottom

BJJ black belt Jeremy Arel of Great Grappling shows a very efficient defense to the notorious rolling baseball choke from that was made famous by Magid Hage who put many top competitors to sleep with it:

“In this video I show a defense to the Rolling Baseball Choke or really any choke that’s on the bottom. This will work against Cross Collar Chokes or anything where they give up their top position to try and get angle for the choke (EXCEPT LOOP CHOKES).

I should have shown this from the side angle so that you can see a little better the range of motion with my hips and how it interacts with the outside of the elbows and arms. I did however do a rep of the movement alone, so you can see the motion.

Please put the emphasis on driving FORWARD and not Up. Up will be a byproduct of moving forward. If you try to lift up, it’s going to put a lot of strain on your neck and not relieve any of the pressure on the choke.”
