Craig Jones’ Difficult Journey To Success: “I Was Sleeping 4 Hours A Night”

Craig Jones is known as one of the best Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athletes today – as well as one of the biggest “trolls” in the online BJJ community space…
However, he had to work hard to achieve the success he earned on the mats.

Jones shared a part of the story he went through:

“Professional Jiu-Jitsu athlete” sounds a whole lot better than a 9-5 job…
That was the main goal to begin with.

I sold my car so I could afford the flight to South Korea to do the (ADCC) Trials. I was really broke…

He had to work all the time and train all the time in order to sustain himself:

Dude, I was only sleeping four hours a night.

I would teach, like, the morning class. I would train at the lunch class, train at the night class.
Between those sessions I would do private lessons all day and I would try and lift weights as well… And it was killing my body.

Jones wasn’t resting nearly enough:

I remember I got a blood test from a doctor. And he thought that I had cancer or something, that something is really wrong with me.
Because he told me that I needed to get a whole lot more rest.

I was just running my body down.
But it all paid off in the end.
