Brazilian MMA Fighter Submits Himself With A Leg Lock

An MMA fighter recently did the unexpected task of submitted himself unintentionally during an attempted leglock against his opponent at a fight event on October 29, 2023.

Brazilian Luiz Claudio was facing Yabna N’Tchalla in a lightweight bout on the main card of the FMS Fight Night 2 event. This first appeared to be a standard fight. Claudio had been fighting professionally since 2016 and entered with a 4-2-1 record, while N’Tchalla made his professional debut in 2021 but brought an impressive 9-1 record seeking to rebound from his first career loss.

However, the bout resulted in one of the most unusual finishes in MMA history. Both fighters exchanged strikes briefly before Claudio shot in for a takedown against the fence. While attempting a single-leg takedown, he fell onto his back and transitioned to attacking N’Tchalla’s legs from the bottom. Claudio tried to secure backside 50/50 leglock position but N’Tchalla defended well and Claudio ended up in a regular 50/50 position. As N’Tchalla rose to his feet, Claudio inverted to grab the free leg, pulling him back down. However, Claudio’s legs remained tangled around the original leg in an awkward position. Realizing the danger, Claudio released the toehold but had already submitted himself due to the leglock entanglement.
