BJJ Instructor Awards two Junior Black Belts

BJJ Instructor Awards two Junior Black Belts

Quite a peculiar scene took place earlier this week at Gunn Marital Arts in Maryland USA.

One of the instructors opted to award two juniors their bjj black belts. In brazilian jiu jitsu it is typically frowned upon to award people below a certain age that type of ranking.  In fact even a blue belt has a certain requirement.

So naturally seeing a picture of these 2 kids being awarded their Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belts while wearing their bjj gis raised quite a few eyebrows. The whole incident came into light after Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Maryland -Columbia owner Mike Stewart Jr shed some light:

He described the situation :

The school in question is Gunn Martial Arts in Maryland. They are Under Renato Tavares and Renato already voiced his disapproval in the video comments.
