Augusto Mendes has a new opponent in the UFC. He will be fighting Frankie Saenz in Phoenix, Arizona on the 15th of January 2017.
The event will be headlined by a bjj great – B.J. Penn who will be making his long awaited comeback into the octagon against Yair Rodriguez. Penn was originally scheduled to have his first fight out of retirement in April against another opponent but, that was scrubbed after he was suspended six months by USADA for out of competition IV use. Penn was ready to go a again in October but an injury forced him out.
Mendes made his debut in the UFC Octagon back in February of last year against Cody Garbrandt. The fight ended after only 4 minutes due to a knock-out.
In addition to the UFC fight Tanquinho also agreed to fight at Berkut 6 days ago.
