How To Pick A Good Self Defense School

From Nick Drossos, a dedicated self-defence instructor who has trained in Kung Fu, Taekwondo, Reality Based Self Defense, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Boxing and Kickboxing. He has worked on the Montreal night life scene as security for over 7 years, as well as a bodyguard for high profile clients, and has done private security during large scale events.

This is a question that we get asked quite often: “How do I choose a good self defense school?” Well today, we decided to answer it!

Choosing a good self defense school is essential for your safety. If you are looking to learn how to protect yourself, you need to make sure that what you learn will truly be effective in a real life situation.

As a general rule, you will also want to learn many different styles of fighting such as MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), boxing, kickboxing and grappling for many different reasons such as working on your timing, your footwork skills, your striking abilities, etc. However, make sure that you incorporate the elements that you learn into realistic self-defense.

That said, it’s really important that you incorporate an effective reality based self defense system into your training. That’s what makes a real difference and can ensure that you are learning an effective way to protect yourself.

That’s what motivated us to create our self-defense system called Code Red Defense®.

Also, be careful when choosing a self defense or martial arts school because you don’t want to find yourself stuck in a one year contract and forced to learn a style that is not effective. Take your time and ask the right questions.
