Experienced competitor Bruno Oliveiro talks to BJJ eastern Europe about his current work teaching BJJ in Cyprus, The BJJ scene there and more. Check it out:

Hi Bruno, can you please introduce yourself to the BJJ Community of Eastern Europe? 

Hi my name is Bruno Oliveira I’m a black belt from Ze Mario team located in Lauro de Freitas, Bahia in Brazil. I’m 28 years old. Currently at the IBJJF website I’m ranked 34th in the lightweight No Gi. With Gi I’m 54th. I was several times state champion from white belt to black belt and today I teach in two gyms in Cyprus: one in the city of Nicosia ENSOMATI GYM and another in the city of Defetera: WHITE ROOM. I’m a black belt formed by Jose Mario Benedicts, the current teacher and manager of athletes in the UFC and other major events.

Please tell us about your Jiu-Jitsu story.

I started in jiujitsu when I was 15 years old more for fun. My friend introduced me and I become passionate for BJJ and never stopped  ever since. I was always competing since the white belt.

Please tell us about your how you ended up in Cyprus, teaching BJJ.

For Cyprus, my contact was through a friend who introduced me to Jack Lacovolos who is a MMA fighter and trainer and great businessman in the fight scene in Cyprus and is also a great athlete. We formed a great team in Cyprus and have a very strong union and our plans are to show the strength of our team and Cypruss BJJ in competitions here in Europe and in the world in 2014. I see a big growth in the BJJ community here and I see every year several champions in various belts that we will shine on the European scene.

Tell us more about the work you have done as a model

Well, I did some work as a model when I was in Italy when a friend of mine introduced me to the fashion community there. My career as a teacher and as a jiujitsu fighter is my real passion.
