Royler Gracie vs Eddie Bravo was one of the most anticipated rematches in Jiu-Jitsu history.

After Eddie Bravo shocking the world with a stunning victory by submission in 2003, BJJ fans anxiously waited for the much talked about rematch and were treated last Saturday (29th) to a beautiful match.

Royler and Eddie faced each other at Metamoris 3 in a submission only, no points match that ended in a draw.

Despite not having been victorious, Gracie said in an interview with with Brazilian magazine Tatame, that he was very happy with his performance:

“My performance was very good, the audience liked it. Everyone left satisfied. We could show that, while not being world champions, we had a lot to show. Of course I wanted to submit, as he also wanted to, but we showed a good fighting spirit, and we were very respectful. He created situations, I created situations … It was a very good fight, “he analyzed.

 

“All my fights are always exciting and take people out of their chairs. That’s what Jiu-Jitsu needs, and not to see guys doing tied up, and matches decided by advantage. The design of this event (Metamoris) is not the point system. People need to understand that. If it were up points, the fight would have been different. We both had a good time, and he spent three minutes and forty seconds in a submission and failed. ‘Gee’, if you failed to finish me in this time, you can never submit me, “he argued.

Due to the success of the rematch between the two fighters, there is talk of a possibility of a third and final match. Royler is already is considering:

“The fight was so good, that probably we will get proposals, because of the great reaction in the Jiu-Jitsu world. People do not see a fight like this for years. Who would not want to see a third fight? The possibility exists, of course. Let’s wait and see. “he added.
