No More Big Boys: UAEJJF Cap Ultra Heavyweight Class For Competitions

 

For the 2016/2017 season The UAEJJF, organiser of the Abu Dhabi World Pro has made a major change in its weight class system for its competitions all over the world: Ultra heavyweight are not allowed to weigh more than 110kgs/ 242 lbs (with the Gi).

This means that a large number of ultra heavyweight will not be able to compete or will have to lose a significant amount of weight.

Featherweight:

62 kg Lightweight

69 kg Welterweight

77 kg Middleweight

85 kg Light Heavyweight

94 kg Heavyweight

under 110 kg No upper divisions above 110 kg.

 

While most ultra heavyweights are around that weight, some of the elite black belts are heavier: Otavio Natali for example:
