Hector Lombard Plans to Compete in Judo for Australia at the Olympics

Suspended UFC welterweight Hector Lombard will compete in August in the world’s biggest submission wrestling tournament: ADCC.

After testing positive for steroids following his win over Josh Burkman at UFC 182, Lombard was suspended for a year by the UFC.

The Cuba Judo champion and former Olympian was invited to compete in the ADCC and he has accepted the offer.

The UFC welterweight (77 kgs) will compete at the 99kg category! He will be facing big guys such as Dean Lister, Joao Assis and Xande Ribeiro. In 2013, Joao Assis won the weight class defeating Dean Lister by points in the final.

In his recent interview with Submission Radio , Lombard discusses his plans to compete in the 2016 Olympic games for Australia. Lombard lived in Australia for many years and is an Australian citizen.

Lombard is following the same Olympic dream as other suspended UFC fighters Anderson Silva who will attempt to qualify for the Brazilian Taekwondo team, Chael Sonnen who has also announced his plans to qualify for the USA wrestling team.
