Matt Hughes Considering Return to MMA Against Royce Gracie

It’s looking more and more like another epic rematch is in the works. The news has just leaked that 43 year old UFC hall of famer Matt Hughes is considering a comeback.

If Hughes opts to go through with it it ill be his first fight since September of 2011 when he was stopped by Josh Koscheck in the 1st round at UFC 135.

He’s looking for a comeback against none other than Royce Gracie – the 50 year old mma veteran who he first faced back at UFC 60 on May 27th 2006.

“If I could find an opponent that I think I can beat, I would go again,” Hughes told Joe Buck for an upcoming episode of AT&T Audience Network’s ‘Undeniable with Joe Buck.’ The episode will air in late summer/early fall.

“I’m not saying I am [going to fight again],” Hughes said to Buck. “The guy I am talking about fighting might have been in this chair.”

Royce was just recently guesting on Undeniable with Joe Buck when he doubled down on his disdain for female mma and talked various other issues in mma. Other mma fighters have yet to appear on the show.

Bellator is looking like the platform of choice given that Scott Covker already negotiated fights among big name fighters that are slightly older featuring Hughes, Gracie, Shamrock and Ortiz most recently.

Royce Gracie looked surprisingly well against Shamrock even though he’s tackling a big thing, fighting in mixed martial arts at age 50.
