England Rugby Stars Set To Work With MMA Expert Months After Judo Got One Player’s Leg Broken

England’s rugby team isn’t ready to give up on crosstraining! They will be preparing for the 6 Nations defense by going at it like McGregor.

Australian coach Eddie Jones is this time determined to turn to a MMA expert after the brief judo training ended up breaking the leg of Sam Jones while he was grappling with Maro Itoje.

In case you don’t know Eddie Jones is an Australian rugby union coach and former player. He is the current head coach of the England national rugby union team. He has previously coached the Australian national team during the 2003 Rugby World Cup and also coached the Japanese national team for three years leading up to the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

He’s also convinced researching and spending time with teams from all sorts of sports will give the English team the edge necessary for achieving triumph.

The team tried their hand at Judo (sans Gi)  , with former world champ Kate Howey and Jean-Paul Bell showing their skills that helped Sally Conway win Olympic bronze in Rio.

The effort has backfired in a spectacular fashion! One of the back-row forwards fractured his right fibula. The gentlemen below carrying the ball, Sam Jones is the player in question.

This is not the first time in recent years that England have suffered an injury as a result of trying to expand their training . In the build-up to the 2011 World Cup Ben Youngs got knee ligament damage while wrestling.

However they’re determined to turn to MMA now

Defense coach Paul Gustard told mirror:

“We met a guy who we’re still in discussion with about improving certain aspects around the contact area, around the maul and about getting back to your feet post-tackle.

“It’s those sorts of skills that are innate in wrestling or a one on one contact sport.”
