February 22, 2014 – Keenan Cornelius (ATOS) and Yuri Simoes (CAIO TERRA ASSOCIATION) compete in the Men’s Open Gi Black Belt 18+ final at FIVE GI.NOGI GRAPPLING’s California 1 Open Championship, brought to you by Tatami Fightwear.
By making the finals, both men qualified for the North American Invitational Championship. California 1 was the first qualifier for NAIC, to be held in Miami, Florida this November. The historic NAIC event will showcase the top athletes who competed at FIVE events in 2014. Only athletes who placed on the podium (1st, 2nd or 3rd) at any FIVE regional event in 2014 will have qualified for invitation to the National Championship. 10 states from across North America (California, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, Illinois, Ontario, Arizona, New York, Florida, Georgia) will serve as regional qualifiers for the first ever, invitation-only, Gi and NoGi North American Championship.
