Ryron Gracie on Facing Barnett: “Helio Would Do it”

Last night, Metamoris announced that Roberto Cyborg Abreu is out of the event due to an injury. This happened just 3 days before the event.

Ryron Gracie stepped up to face the monster that is Josh Barnett:

RYRON GRACIE has stepped up to replace the injured Cyborg Abreu to face Josh Barnett in an Open-Weight Super Fight for Metamoris 6. Ryron comes from a line of always-ready warriors and gives no hesitation in stepping up to face Josh Barnett. || Witness M6 LIVE on All Access.

Ryron last appeared on Metamoris 1 where he drew with Andre Galvao in a match where he was mostly defending.

Rener Gracie (Ryron’s brother) posted on his Facebook, a conversation that he had with Ryron. They drew inspiration from their grandfather Grand Master Helio Gracie who had fought much bigger opponents in Vale Tudo fights that lasted for hours.

Ryron: Cyborg is out. They asked me to fight Josh Barnett. What do you think?
Me: He’s pretty big. Do you want to do it?
Ryron: Our grandfather would do it.
Me: True.

Word is also out that this Saturday’s Metamoris 6 will not have an audience present at the event. No venue has been announced. The only way to watch it will be online on its Pay Per View.

The first 5 editions of Metamoris all had a live audience.

Metamoris founder Ralek Gracie told MMAFighting.com in a statement:

“We are experimenting with a more intimate setting for our athletes in their participation and focusing our resources on the pay-per-view experience for fans worldwide.”
