The second big match up announced is between former UFC fighters Chael Sonnen and Renato “Babalu” Sobral.

Babalu is a former champion strikeforce and always had as weapons using his grappling, jiu jitsu, and wrestling. Out of his 37 wins in MMA, 19 were by submission.

Sonnen is best known for his mouth that for his fighting skills, but has great credentials in wrestling. He is a BJJ purple belt and has been training his BJJ extensively for the past year since his reirement from MMA. Sonnen trains under Fabiano ‘Pege Leve’ Scherner, , former UFC fighter and multiple BJJ world champion (ex BTT, now head instructor of Gracie Barra Portland).

Babalu and Sonnen already fought in MMA and the fight ended with Babalu submitting Sonnen with a triangle.

Babalu fought to a draw with Dean Lister at Metamoris 3 while Sonnen lost to Andre Galvao by RNC at Metamoris 4.

Babalu told MMAFighting.com about what he expects from the match:

“Andre Galvao is one of the top in grappling, and he did a great job against Sonnen at Metamoris 4. I already expected that result, actually,” “I think Sonnen will come in strong and try that guillotine, one of his best attacks, but I don’t see him catching me, submitting me. I will submit him in less than 10 minutes.”

“He exposes himself more in MMA. But if he makes a mistake, I’ll tap him with a triangle choke,” he said. “I’ll use my entire arsenal, everything I can, to tap him.”
