Munich, Germany was the set of the IBJJF Winter Open on Saturday, March 1st.
The blue belt adult was dominated by Bosnia’s Mirza Karac from Edson Carvalho Team Bosnia dominated taking double gold at Super heavy and Open weight.
The purple belt adult featured many up and coming Eastern Europe BJJ talents such as Vojtech Barborik, Asa Nadarevic, Eldar Yakuza or Adam Wardzinski. In the Open weight, Eldar ‘Yakuza’ Rafigaec once again took the gold.
At brown belt, Manuel António Ambrósio S. T. Pontes from Gracie Barra won the gold at Super heavy and also too the gold in the Open class, where France’s Luc Rousseau came 2nd and Turkey’s Ibrahim Inal came 3rd.
At the black belt, the highlight was the ultra heavyweight Mauricio Henrique Lima, from academia Cicero Costha. The academy of Leandro Lo and Miyaos does not only host skinny fighters. Mauricio won the absolute black belt in Germany after beating Max Carvalho, professor of GB based in Hungary.
Michal Bittner, Pitbull Academy of the Czech Republic, and Gabriel Marangoni, from Zenith, completed the podium of the absolute.
In absolute female, black belt Ida Hansson (Checkmat) was the champion The podium was completed by Shanti Abelha, Gretchen Zoeller and Rita de Cássia Jovel.
Gracie Barra won the trophy for teams with 190 points. In second came the local team German team Pound for Pound, with 113. Third, was Icon, with 83.
